MELBOURNE, Australia– A truck eliminated four cops officers who had detained a drug-affected speeding motorist in an accident on a Melbourne freeway, officials said Thursday.
The 41- year-old chauffeur of a Porsche 911 who had been pulled over by police on the Eastern Freeway for speeding on Wednesday night took grisly pictures of the crash scene that followed, Victoria Authorities Chief Commission Graham Ashton said.
The motorist then fled on foot and published the images online, Ashton stated.
The tragedy was the biggest loss of authorities lives in a single occurrence in Victoria state, he said.
The cooled truck motorist was under authorities guard in a hospital on Thursday. He suffered a medical episode after the crash and had lost awareness, Ashton said. It wasn’t clear whether the accident was a mishap or intentional, he stated.
The Porsche motorist, who has a rap sheet, remained in authorities custody and was being questioned by murder detectives, Ashton said. He had been pulled over 50 minutes before the crash for driving at 40 kilometers (25 miles) per hour above the speed limitation, authorities said.
He then tested favorable for an illegal drug. The authorities remained in an emergency stopping lane setting up to seize the vehicle when they were struck.
The truck hit the back of a police car, spinning it out of the lane, prior to crashing into the Porsche, which became wedged under the cabin.
All authorities present– 3 males and females– died at the scene.
